Renovation of the Multi-Faith Chapel

The Foundation raised the funds to renovate the chapel into a modern, warm, multi-faith religious center ready to serve all those of any faith and any ability who come to worship. View more photos

Pet Therapy Program

The Foundation’s support of the Pet Therapy Program enables Certified Pet Therapy Volunteers to visit with the patients and residents.

Horticultural Therapy

The Foundation renovated the BRMC Greenhouse and supports the Horticultural program for the therapeutic benefit of long term care residents.

Summer Concert Series

The Foundation sponsors an outdoor summer concert series for the residents, patients and community.

The Foundation at Bergen Regional Medical Center (BRMC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation (Federal ID# 22-3135663) founded in 1991 as the fundraising arm of the medical center.

The Foundation consists of volunteers from many professions and walks of life. The one thing they all have in common is their commitment and concern for the long term care residents and patients at BRMC.

The 2012 Bergen Benefactor Award

The Bergen Benefactor Award was presented to John Cosgrove and Lucille Joel, EdD, RN FAAN on Monday, March 12, 2012. Kathleen A. Donovan, Bergen County Executive, presented the awards honoring their dedication to the patients and residents of BRMC.

The Mission of the Foundation

The Foundation is committed to:

• Supporting educational programs for professionals, consumers and caregivers.
• Educating the community about health issues and services available at Bergen Regional Medical Center.

Why Support the Foundation?

With a glance at a woman in her sixties who suffered neurological arrest, you can quickly feel her pain and suffering. A woman once so vibrant who cared for her family was left in the fetal position with feeding tubes and severe depression. She initially only responded to French, her native tongue. Her family was told that she might never come out of this state. After receiving therapy and attending classes regularly at the Bergen Regional Greenhouse and Horticultural Therapy Center, she not only regained her smile, she regained her mobility too. Staff and family members are still astonished by her progress.

Holidays can be hard for those long term care residents who do not have any family. Yet it only takes a warm nose and a wagging tail of one of BRMC's pet therapy dogs to bring the smile back to their faces.

The Greenhouse and the Pet Therapy Program are some of the many projects supported by the Foundation.

Thanks to the support of people like you, this is one of only many similar stories. The Foundation has offered many patients and long term care residents an enhanced quality of life and happiness because of continued and generous donations.

Wall of Inspiration

Associations, companies and individuals who contribute donations of $1000 or more will be recognized on brass plaques located on the Wall of Inspiration in the hospital lobby.
