BRMC LP Charity Care Reduction
Dwindling State Charity Care Pool Reduces Bergen Regional Medical Center Funding by Nearly $17M
(Paramus, NJ) The final SFY 2017 State budget reduced the Charity Care pool from $502M to $302M. Of this state-wide $200M cut, Bergen Regional Medical Center (BRMC), New Jersey’s #1 ranked provider of Charity Care services relative to its overall business, incurred nearly a $17M reduction in funding.
“As a safety net facility, Bergen Regional Medical Center is dedicated to its mission of providing quality services for the uninsured and underinsured,” said BRMC President, Administrator, and COO, Susan Mendelowitz. “A reduction of this magnitude in any subsidy impacts that mission and provides further challenge to The Medical Center’s complex day to day operations.”
