Bergen Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, Evergreen Addiction Services. Evergreen is comprised of the following programs; a medically monitored detoxification unit, a 21 day inpatient program, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Evergreen treats annually over 15,000 chemically dependent individuals, who require medically monitored detoxification services for alcohol and drug addiction. Three essential elements are recognized for the achievement and maintenance of abstinence: aggressive intervention, family participation and sustained support.
Inpatient treatment is sometimes necessary to promote a period of abstinence, dealing with withdrawal symptoms and allowing the addicted person to practice new habits of recovery in a controlled and highly structured setting. Our inpatient units are modern and attractive, providing a cheerful environment which contributes directly to recovery. There are semi-private patient rooms, spacious day rooms, private counseling offices and meeting rooms.
Inpatient Medical Detoxification
Evergreen Treatment Center offers an inpatient medical detoxification program consisting of a health evaluation, diagnostic services and treatment by board certified physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing attendants under the auspice of the Department of Medicine.
Admission to the inpatient units or registration in the outpatient programs occur by physician referral or by calling the programs directly. All health insurances are accepted and fees are based on a sliding scale.
Not every chemically-dependent patient requires inpatient hospitalization. Many have been successfully launched into recovery through effective Intensive Outpatient Programs, (IOP).
Intensive Outpatient
Evergreen Intensive Outpatient offers a day or evening program. The day program meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The evening program meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm. The program includes psychodrama, family participation, counseling and spiritual guidance. Six months of intensive outpatient treatment are followed by a six-month aftercare program, held once a week. "Commencement" is celebrated at the end of the year.
An introduction to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous is an important part of the treatment process. Daily meetings are held at Bergen Regional Medical Center. Patients are encouraged to attend and to participate on a continuing basis. Evergreen Addiction Services believes that ongoing support is critical to maintaining recovery.
